News From The Wealthy Dentist #1 Dental Marketing Newsletter

Welcome to TWD!

Greetings from Jim Du Molin!

Hi, I’m Jim Du Molin, editor in chief of For the past several years I have divided my time between working with doctors (at one time we managed almost 200 practices across the U.S. and Canada) and developing Internet marketing strategies for dentists. Recently my wife Suzanne and I achieved our own financial planning goals and we retired from the day-to-day dental management and consulting business. is our effort to put a  reality check on what we consider to be  major abuses perpetrated against the dental community. It is also our way of sharing some of the knowledge we have gained over the past 20
years while working with some of North America’s greatest dental practitioners and practices.

In addition to this newsletter, we have developed several online video tutorials on dental marketing and management. Many of these are available at no charge on our Web site. If you would like to be removed from our email list, just call 1-877-893-3368 and leave your email address(es) at the tone.

Brits Swarm to Dental Insurance

What’s wrong with this picture?

The British have long been heckled for their teeth. Let’s be honest – even Prince Charles could benefit from a good makeover …
where’s Bill Dorfman when you need him?
Things got a lot worse when the National Health Service (NHS) made a few changes in the way dentists are paid. Overextended, unable to treat everyone and no longer pretending to try, the state-funded
health system has left thousands of UK residents who cannot afford private care without dentists. Others face appointment waiting lists three years long.

The news is generally grim for all parties, but dental insurance companies are ecstatic. One of the largest carriers, Dentplan, has signed on more new clients so far this year than in all of 2005. Because most policies require a three to six month
waiting period before claims can be made, those needing emergency care are still out of luck. Sort of throws a kink into the argument for socialized medicine, doesn’t it?

What does this mean for you? When Hillary Clinton is elected our next president, I kid you not – the Beltway insiders are already scrambling for deckchairs as the Bush presidency goes down like the Titanic, will she include dentistry in her
universal health care plan? You should be on bending knee to the deity of your choice praying that she doesn’t make the usual “medical-dental” mistake most Washington bureaucrats make when preparing legislation to save the souls of the electorate and buy more votes.

Heroes and Zeros!

Hey Doc! This tastes like…

A Washington dentist has surrendered his dental license after an investigation by the Health Department revealed unsanitary conditions. Among the charges: Dental instruments were not sterilized between use; a cat was allowed to roam in examination rooms; cat food was kept in the same refrigerator as dental supplies and the good doctor scooped up feline unmentionables with a spatula used for mixing dental materials. Kind of leaves a bad taste in your mouth.
