Survey: Dental CE on the Rise in 2010
When we asked dentists about their continuing education plans for 2010, over half said they were planning to do more clinical CE this year, for an average of just over 50 hours. Management Company Pays $24M Settlement
The largest dental management company in the US is paying $24 million to settle claims of Medicaid fraud. Forba Holdings LLC owns 68 “Small Smiles” dental clinics. According to the Justice Department, the clinics filed claims for unnecessary pediatric dentistry. Forba has agreed to pay $24 million to settle the lawsuits, but did not admit wrongdoing. Teeth whitening is quite popular, but the average dentist says it doesn’t necessarily lead to more cosmetic dentistry. This survey found that less than half of teeth bleaching patients go on to get additional work from their cosmetic dentist. “Whitening and cosmetic dentistry go hand in hand,” said one dentist. “95% of my highest earning cases are cosmetic.”
